Description

A roll of Tosa Tengujo, the world’s thinnest washi paper (2.0g/m²), made from 100% kozo (mulberry) fiber.
Chlorine-free bleached and acid-free, ideal for conservation and delicate artwork applications.

Tosa Tengujo is significantly thinner and more translucent than standard kozo papers.
It is highly valued both in Japan and internationally as an essential material for the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage.
This paper has been used in the preservation of world-renowned works, including Michelangelo’s frescoes and art collections at the Louvre Museum in Paris.

The stable production of such ultra-thin paper is made possible through advanced precision machine-making techniques, which is something difficult to achieve by hand.

Its exceptional thinness minimizes impact on artworks, making it ideal for backing fragile materials, preventing paint flaking, and adding texture and reinforcement to painting surfaces. Originally developed for restoration purposes, this washi is now also widely used in artistic expression, interior decoration, and other creative applications.
