Description
This paste strainer is crafted using natural horsehair, specifically designed for mounting artworks.
It is used for straining freshly prepared starch glue paste, a part of the Urauchi backing process.
Compared to synthetic fibers, horsehair offers less resistance, making the straining process smoother.
Its resilience and flexibility provide a pleasant handling experience, helping to remove lumps and impurities to create a finer, smoother starch.
Today, artisans who weave horsehair have become increasingly rare, making these products all the more valuable.
【Precautions for Use】
・Before using, be sure to moisten the horsehair surface. Using it while dry may cause the mesh to break or stretch.
・When applying glue, use the tool in a diagonal motion (X-direction) across the mesh. Using it in a parallel direction may distort the mesh and stretch the horsehair
・Lay the wooden spatula and pull it toward yourself when using it.
【After-Use Care and Warnings】
・After use, rinse thoroughly or gently wash with a sponge to ensure no glue remains.
・Do not use scrubbing brushes or stiff bristles, as they may cause the mesh to twist or become damaged.
・Horsehair is highly flammable, so keep it away from open flames or heat sources.
・After use, shake off excess water and let it dry completely. When storing, place it with the mesh facing upward or hang it horizontally.
・If not used for a long time, store it in a box with insect repellent in a dry environment.
・Do not store it in plastic bags or other airtight containers.
