This ink stick is made so that the dispersion of carbon particles is facilitated. It has light beauty (brightness) and a little darkness (calmness) harmonized with each other provided with redness (warmth) and white light (grace). The red-brownish deep black tone with a tinge of darkness features a reddish opaqueness that creates the richness and strength of the color of sumi harmonizing the shin (the core, the stroke by the brush) and the nijimi (the blurring part around the shin). About four or five years after production, the color of sumi will settle and the ink stick will develop distinct properties and characteristics, such as separation of the shin (the core, the stroke by the brush) and the nijimi (blurring around the edge of the stroke) and brightness of the color of sumi.
