10th Anniversary Special Workshop!

To celebrate PIGMENT TOKYO’s 10th anniversary, we are pleased to host a special workshop in collaboration with Awagami Factory, a long-established traditional Japanese washi paper manufacturer from Tokushima Prefecture.

Awagami Factory carries on the 1,300-year-old tradition of Awa washi papermaking technique, producing high-quality Japanese paper suited for modern artistic expression. They create environmentally conscious and creatively inspired papers such as “Bamboo Washi,” made from bamboo fibers and PIGMENT TOKYO’s original blended paper “Bamboo × Kozo,” combining bamboo and mulberry fibers.

In this workshop, participants will learn about the history, materials and production process of washi paper from Awagami Factory’s staff, while experiencing papermaking by creating postcard-sized washi paper. This rare opportunity allows you to experience the papermaking process, usually only available at their Tokushima studio, right here in Tennozu Isle, Tokyo.

Moreover, workshop-exclusive materials such as raw fibers and papermaking frames will be available for purchase.

Join us to discover the art of paper and enjoy a time full of learning and creativity as you make your paper by hand!

*Please note that the paper you make will need to be fully dried at home.
