This washi was made with kozo bleached with the technique called yukizarashi (snow bleaching) through the bleaching action of ultraviolet and snow as it is laid on the snow. Unlike paper made with raw materials bleached through chemical treatment, this paper has a warmth to its white tone. Furthermore, the raw kozo is homegrown and stewed with wood ash liquid in a time-honored way, and therefore its fibers have become very tough. It has a quality similar to the washi made up until the Edo period. The supports (paper, silk, cotton) are not treated with dosa to prevent bleeding of ink, so please be sure to treat them yourself.
