”Saiboku Shimbi,” a series of colored ink sticks can lead you to a variety of expressions by mixing and layering the colors, paint application, and brushwork.
These Saibku are suitable for many painting styles, including Japanese painting, ink painting, and watercolor painting.
This 14-color set includes 12 pieces of "Saiboku Shimbi" which demonstrates the vividness of traditional Japanese colors, 1 piece of "Shin-jirushi Kuretake" which produces deep and elegant ink colors for calligraphy, and 1 piece of "Gaboku Ume-jirushi Sansui" that produces refreshing and deep blue ink color.
One of the main features of the ”Saiboku Shimbi” series is the vividness of the ink colors. Although the colors of Saiboku are generally easy to darken by mixing them, it is impossible to increase the saturation and vividness. However, you can achieve from vivid transparent colors to calm colors with ”Saiboku Shimbi” according to your works of art.
Since these colors are made of pigments, they do not fade over time, making them suitable as painting materials for artworks that will be appreciated for many years. The Color Index Name (*1) for each color is indicated on the product, so you can check further characteristics of each pigment.
Artworks painted with "Saiboku Shimbi" can also be mounted (Hyogu) later. If the artworks are painted with deep colors, applying a fixative (Kuretake Calligraphy Painting Spray) is recommended after the artworks are completely dried.
