Canvas Pliers are mostly used for stretching the canvas onto the wooden frame.
The pliers allow the artists to maintain a secure hold on the canvas and provide leverage against the stretcher bar for a tight stretch, then the artists can hammer the canvas down with tacks (canvas nails).
Moreover, at the base of clasping portion there is a protuberance that one can use against the wood frame as a fulcrum, taking advantage of the resulting lever to making the pulling movement easier.
The inner sides of the clasping surfaces are made of polyurethane rubber, which allow the tool to firmly grasp the canvas.
