Creating Original Crayons Family Workshop Was Held

We had a Golden Week special event 親子deアートday (Parent and Child Art Day)by ARCHI-DEPOT Museum×PIGMENT on May 1st. In this article, we will report on the latter half of the event, “Creating Original Crayons Family Workshop”.

The art material expert, Kei Saito, who is also a lecturer of “Oil Painting for Intermediate”, lectured the workshop. It was the Golden Week’s special event for parents and children, and they were all excited to see the unfamiliar art materials.

Making crayons may seem difficult, but actually, it is very easy.

First, put beeswax in the cup, and add pigment and linseed oil onto the cup.

Then, warm the cup up with a warmer.

Once it gets warmed up adequately, mix it to order to make the color even. Then, warm it up again.

Prepare a mold for crayons while the warming process.

Here is the time to express the creative imagination. Some children molded their original shape in clay, and other used the ready-made cookie cutter.

Finally, pour the mix into the mold…

let it cool down and done!

In the end, the table was filled with colorful crayons with various shapes. The children looked a little bit nervous at the beginning of the workshop. However, they gradually got used to the work, and everyone was concentrated on creating their own original crayons. Some of the parents were as excited as their children, and we all enjoyed the event.

Although the date is undecided, this workshop will be held again in the near future. Regular workshops that both parents and children would enjoy are available as well.
